MMA’s Old Men Getting It Done

After some of the recent events in the UFC, don’t be surprised if Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture come out of retirement to take another fight. While that may be a stretch, there’s no denying that the old men around MMA are still making noise. And when I say old, I mean a combination of age and a long career.

The rundown:

– Fedor and Hendo do battle in Chicago on Saturday night. It’s a superfight for the ages, even if Fedor, the long-time king of MMA has been dethroned. Hendo still holds a belt and this fight will have no impact on that. Imagine though if Fedor wins. The MMA community will go psycho. Fedor is almost 35 and Hendo will turn 41 in August.

– Rampage Jackson is fighting Jon Jones for the title. Who would have thought Rampage would have ever fought for another title? But he will at UFC 135, and Rampage is still pissing people off too. Jon Jones was livid when Rampage pulled this move at the press conference.

– Matt Hughes got KO’d by BJ Penn, but until that fight had put together a nice series of wins, showing much improved striking in all of them. His submission of Ricardo Almeida was epic, and now Hughes will battle Diego Sanchez at UFC 135. Don’t be surprised if Hughes submits Sanchez.

– Tito Ortiz had a HUGE win over Ryan Bader at UFC 132 and immediately inserted himself back into the contender picture. Now he’ll get another top contender at UFC 133: Rashad Evans. If he beats Rashad it’s safe to say that Tito will receive strong consideration for a title shot.
