Tebow Expects Passionate Welcome In Return To Florida

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow making his first start of the season in Miami is the main point of interest in a game between the 1-4 Broncos and 0-5 Dolphins. It will be Tebow’s first pro appearance in the stadium where he won a college national championship, and the Dolphins were already planning on honoring that Florida Gators championship team.

Will it be like a home game for Tebow? He’s too humble and/or too smart to say so. “I think Dolphins fans are very passionate, so I’m sure they’ll be very supportive of their team,” said Tebow.

Dolphins center Mike Pouncey, a friend and former Florida teammate of Tebow, was also concerned about how pro-Tebow the “home” crowd will be. “If he gets a touchdown pass, they better be booing,” Pouncey said.

What about all the doubters that say Tebow will never be a championship-caliber NFL quarterback? “You try to block it out,” says the former Heisman Trophy winner. “But you definitely hear it. So you definitely want to prove those people wrong that don’t believe in you and prove the supporters right.” (There’s a little touch of Jesus there in his you’re either with me or don’t believe in me.)”

Lines for the game range from even to Tebow and the Broncos as 1.5-point underdogs (or +125 dogs by the money line).
