You remember the pole vault legend Sergei Bubka? Well he has a son who plays tennis also named Sergei Bubka! Now why on earth would someone want their kids to have the exact same name as them? To carry their name through the generations? It sounds a bit much to me, but anyways…

Today Sergei Bubka is in action in the Tennis Hall of Fame Championships in Newport (I am bound to be tired writing this full title, but might be good for search engine optimization purposes) and he is playing tiny (but with a BIG game) Olivier Rochus. Olivier Rochus is 1.68 and but can play tennis at the highest level when he is in the mood. I think he will be in the mood against Sergei Bubka today.

The funniest player name of today will go to Raven Klaasen from South Africa, but he will be challenged by last year’s winner Rajeev Ram. I think Mr Ram will be too difficult for Klaasen.

The best match of today is undoubtedly Dustin Brown vs Sam Querrey, although I do doubt Brown’s chances of winning. Expect some entertaining rallies in this one.

Richard Bloomfield is a Brit with a very British name and he plays Santiago Giraldo (who by the way has a very Colombian name, how come?). Giraldo is a big talent, not so sure about Bloomfield. Therefore Giraldo will win in straights.

Mahut enjoys being a tennis legend as can be read from his interviews post the Isner-marathon match. A nice treat for a once talented player ranked around 140 in the World, who once won junior Wimbledon and reached the final in Queens, but who’s game only really excells on one surface. I hope Mahut wins against Dancevic, he is worth a good showing here, being a Hall-of-Famer and all.

The fight of the great American hopes (besides Quisner) is Harrison vs Kudla. Tough to predict this one, but I have a feeling Harrison is a bit more up to the challenge.
