Seahawks Knock Off Defending Super Bowl Champions

The Seattle Seahawks came into the playoff game on Saturday as a 10.5 point underdog against the New Orleans Saints. When the game ended, Seattle was dancing on their home field as they had upended the defending Super Bowl Champions.

Seattle scored a season high 41 points in the five point win over the Saints. The Seahawks needed the last Sunday of the regular season to get into the postseason; as they downed St. Louis to win the NFC West. The Seahawks with that win became the first team in NFL history to make the postseason with a losing record.

Seattle was guided by the return of quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. He threw four touchdown passes in the win. Also with a big game for the Seahawks was Marshawn Lynch. The former Buffalo Bills running back rushed for 131 yards, including a late touchdown to put Seattle up two touchdowns.

Seattle will now await the winner of the Green Bay Packers/Philadelphia Eagles game. If Green Bay wins, the Seahawks will head to Chicago take on the Bears. If Philadelphia comes away with the win, Seattle will head to Atlanta, to take on the top seeded Falcons.
