Staying undefeated in any sport throughout a season is no easy task. The New England Patriots almost pulled it off a couple of seasons ago in the NFL, but came one game short getting beat by the New York Giants in the Super Bowl.

This season there were a few teams that were able to stay perfect six weeks into the NFL season, one of which is the Denver Broncos which had a bye week in week seven, but only two of three undefeated teams that played in week seven were able to stay perfect as Brett Favre and company lost a heartbreaker to the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

Here is a breakdown of the best games in week seven:

Minnesota Vikings @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Brett Favre has been terrific this season proving all his doubters wrong once again as he continues to perform at a high level. The Minnesota Vikings have had a excellent running game ever since they drafted superstar running back Adrian Peterson, but they have never been able to get the passing game going until this season with the addition of Favre.

The Vikings have arguably the best ground game in the league, a future hall of fame quarterback behind center in Favre and a solid defense led by Jared Allen, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Big Ben Roethlisberger and the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers as they were able to hand Brett Favre and company their first loss of the season 27-17.

Miami Dolphins @ New Orleans Saints

Perhaps the most impressive performance of week seven the New Orleans Saints put their undefeated record on the line against the pioneer of the Wildcat offense in the NFL in the Miami Dolphins.

The first half was an absolute nightmare for the Saints as their MVP candidate quarterback Drew Brees threw three interceptions and couldn’t get anything going on offense. The Dolphins on the other hand were running all over the Saints defense with ex-Saints running back Ricky Williams rushing for 80 yards and three touchdowns.

All hope seemed lost for the Saints coming into the second half as Brees looked banged up and Saints were facing an uphill battle as the Dolphins led by 21 points. Despite the seemingly insurmountable lead the Saints and Brees fought back and overcame the 21 point lead to eventually beat Miami 46-34. Brees was a man possessed in the second half as he rushed for two touchdowns and threw his one touchdown pass of the game.

Needless to say, the Saints have now proven they are arguably the best team in the NFL right now winning this game in classic comeback fashion. It will be interesting to see how far they can take their undefeated record this season!

Other notable games in week seven:

Arizona Cardinals @ New York Giants: 24-17 Cardinals

Chicago Bears @ Cincinnati Bengals: 45-10 Bengals

Atlanta Falcons @ Dallas Cowboys: 37-21 Cowboys

San Francisco 49ers @ Houston Texans: 24-21 Texans
