Michigan Begins Search for New Head Coach

The Michigan Wolverines, just days after firing embattled head coach Rich Rodriguez, have started their search for a new head coach. Reports are, the Wolverines have contracted current LSU coach Les Miles for their opening.

In six seasons as the head coach of the LSU Tigers, Miles has won 62 games; including a national championship in 2007. Miles current contract has more than $18 million left on it over the remainder.

Miles and the University allegedly met when the Wolverines had an opening following the 2007 season. The school never offered Miles the position. Other names that have been discussed in the search have been Jim Harbaugh, who took a new job as the head coach of the 49ers, Pat Fitzgerald from Northwestern and Brady Hoke, out of San Diego State.

Michigan finished the 2010 season with a 7-6 record. Their final game was a blow-out loss to Mississippi State on New Years Day. Miles won his bowl game this week; in the 2011 Cotton Bowl over Texas A&M Aggies.
