The NBA regular season is quickly coming to an end and although the playoffs and who can contend for the NBA title is intriguing, the NBA offseason might be even more intriguing as some of the league’s best and brightest will become available to the highest bidder come July 1st.

Amongst the talent crop of NBA superstars becoming available this summer LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers is the one player every NBA franchise wants to get their hands on, but there are a lot of other players around the league that will also become available like Dwyane Wade, Amare Stoudemire and Chris Bosh.

One of the other players that seemed destined to become a free agent this July was the San Antonio Spurs veteran shooting guard Manu Ginobili.

Throughout his time in San Antonio, Ginobili has gone from a relatively unknown to one of the most popular and dominant international players in the NBA with the ability to do pretty much anything on the basketball floor.

Even though the Spurs have had somewhat of a down year this season to their standards, Manu Ginobili has played brilliantly in the second half of the NBA regular season and has helped the Spurs clinch a playoff spot and stay in the thick of things in the Western Conference.

This summer was thought to be an interesting one for the San Antonio Spurs as they had to make one of the toughest decisions in franchise history in whether or not to sign Manu Ginobili to a contract extension or let him test free agency for the first time in his career.

Well, with only a handful of games left in the regular season, it was thought that the Spurs didn’t mind not re-signing Ginobili, but that wasn’t the case as they agreed to a three year deal worth about $38.9 million dollars.

Although this isn’t Kobe Bryant kind of money, and for good reason, this is a pretty reasonable deal for a player of 32 years of age.
