Manchester City are requesting that disgruntled star forward Robinho heads back to the club’s training ground as they have terminated his loan agreement with Brazilian club Santos. The Brazilian is expected to be back in Manchester before the new Premier League season gets underway.

Robinho was loaned out to Santos earlier this year for a six month spell, but is reportedly being paid £160,000 a week by City. The Brazilian club have said that City have asked for €40 million if they want to keep Robinho.

Santos’ president, Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro, told the media that his club is negotiating with City and hopes that something can be worked out soon with the English team because they have made it clear that they’re not going to loan him out again. However, Ribiero thinks it might be possible to try and work out a loan deal again when the next transfer window opens in January.

Robinho was given a standing ovation in his final match with Santos, a 2-0 victory over Vitoria in the first leg of the Brazilian Cup Final and the player said he’d like to stay with the club in his homeland. But Robinho knows that City holds all of the cards and he doesn’t really have much of a say in the matter if he still wants to get paid, so he’s resigned to heading back to Manchester.

The player’s agent, Evandro de Souza, has confirmed the news and stated that it looks like Robinho has played his last game with Santos as City are adamant that he returns after the loan contract has expired.

City manager Roberto Mancini said he has no problem with Robinho returning to the team, but said the player needs to be happy if he’s going to be productive. He added that it all depends on Robinho’s attitude when he returns to the squad.

Mancini added that after Robinho has finished his loan spell he will remain in Brazil a week and play with the national team in a friendly against America before flying over to England.
