World Number One Luke Donald said playing the final PGA Tour event of the year, the Children’s Miracle Network Classic at Disney World, was a no-brainer because he has the chance to become the first person to officially lead both the PGA Tour and European Tour money lists in the same year. Tiger Woods would have done that many times, but was never an official member of the European Tour.

“There was never really a decision to be made, I have a chance of making history,” Donald tweeted on Twitter last week, before Simpson overtook him in the PGA Tour money list standings with a runner-up finish at this past weekend’s McGladrey Classic.. “See you all at Disney next week.”

In the European Tour standings, Donald has a large lead of over a million pounds or a million Euros over second-place Rory McIlroy with 10 tournaments remaining over there. But to capture the PGA Tour money title, Donald will have to catch American Webb Simpson, who has a lead of $363,029.

Simpson, who will also be playing Disney this week, expects the competition to be close and realizes his best strategy would be to win the tournament. “It would be nice to run away with it, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s going to be pretty close,” said Simpson. “Winning would take care of a lot, I think.”

Simpson has won $6.2 million in 25 PGA Tour events, while Donald has made over $5.84 million playing in 18.
