In the NFL no player has been tougher over the past 19 years than the Minnesota Vikings future hall of fame quarterback Brett Favre. No matter what hits he takes, no matter how severe an injury may seem, Brett Favre always comes back on the field and is considered a warrior on the gridiron.

In the NBA, there is only one player that has been able to stand the test of time in Brett Favre like fashion and that player is arguably the best player in the league in the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant.

Before Saturday night’s game against the Portland Trailblazers at the Rose Garden, Kobe Bryant had played in 235 consecutive games of the Lakers. This is an amazing number considering how banged up a basketball player of Kobe Bryant’s caliber can get over 82 game seasons and throughout the playoffs.

Throughout this NBA season, Kobe Bryant has suffered all sorts of injuries from a broken finger, back spasms, a nagging elbow injury and an severe ankle sprain. Any other player would sit out with any of these injuries, let alone all these injuries, but being the warrior he is, Kobe neglected to sit and played through all of these injuries.

Unfortunately, Kobe Bryant’s body was going to breakdown and need rest at some point in time and that time has come as his most recent injury to his ankle has seemed to be more painful to play through than any other injury he has had this season.

As a result of Kobe needing some time off to heal, he has missed three straight games in order to treat his injuries before he does enough damage to where he might has to sit for an extended amount of time and miss game when the Los Angeles Lakers need him most.

Despite Kobe Bryant missing the games against the Portland Trailblazers, San Antonio Spurs and the Utah Jazz, all who are most likely playoff bound and tough teams, the Lakers have stepped up their game in the absence of their best players and are 3-0 without the Black Mamba.

It is uncertain when Kobe Bryant will be healthy enough to get back on the floor for the defending NBA champs, but many are speculating that he could be out until after the upcoming All-Star break and might even miss the All-Star game entirely this weekend.
