Jets Worried About Tebow’s Boringness

Four days after a disappointing loss to the New England Patriots, the New York Jets will have to regroup for a Thursday night road game against the Denver Broncos, who’ve won three of four games since installing Tim Tebow at quarterback. Jets superstar cornerback Darrelle Revis says his biggest concern facing Tebow and the run-happy Broncos offense is fighting boredom.

“The biggest thing for the secondary is for us not to fall asleep,” said Revis. “It can get boring, especially if a team keeps on just running the ball, series after series, play after play.”

In last week’s road win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Tebow became the first quarterback since Buffalo’s Joe Ferguson in 1974 to have more rushes than passes. Tebow completed just two of eight passes the entire game, while running nine times for 43 yards and a touchdown.

The Jets have been using 41-year-old backup Mark Brunell to play Tebow in practice. “I’m left-handed and he is left-handed, and that’s about it right there,” said Brunell when asked to compare himself to the Heisman Trophy winner.

Meanwhile, Broncos coach John Fox compared Tebow to a Ferrari. Responding to suggestions that he and Broncos VP John Elway wanted Tebow to fail because they didn’t draft him, Fox said: “Well, it doesn’t make much sense. It would be like buying a Ferrari and pouring sugar in the gas tank.

The Jets are six- to seven-point road favorites against Tebow and the Broncos.
