Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy Co-Favorites At The Barclays [Odds]

The PGA Tour’s FedeExCup playoffs begin this week with the first postseason event, The Barclays, in Farmingdale, New York. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, won the PGA Championship less than two weeks ago, are the co-favorites to win the Barclays. Tiger finished first in the regular season FedExCup standings, but Rory is Number One in the Official World Golf Rankings.

The man with the best chance of challenging Tiger and Rory, according to the oddsmakers anyway, is England’s Justin Rose. Dustin Johnson will be back to defend after winning here last year, and other past winners in the field include Matt Kuchar, Steve Stricker and Sergio Garcia, who won the final PGA Tour regular season tournament on Monday.

Here are your 2012 The Barclays odds for all the top competitors:

  • Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland (World Ranking: 1, FedExCup Standing: 3) 7/1

Tiger Woods Favored At 2012 PGA Championship [Odds]

Golf’s final major of the year starts Thursday, and Tiger Woods is favored to win the PGA Championship for the fifth time. It’s been five years since Tiger’s won the PGA Championship and over four years since he’s won any major, but it has seemed like he’s getting closer in recent majors, so maybe this weekend will be the culmination of his comeback.

Tiger’s stiffest competition is expected to come from World Number One Luke Donald, who is still looking for his first major title, and 2011 US Open winner Rory McIlroy. Defending champion Keegan Bradley is at 33/1 to repeat.

Here are your 2012 PGA Championship odds for all the top competitors:

  • Tiger Woods, USA (World Ranking: 2) 8/1 – Won PGA Championship in 1999, 2000, 2006 and 2007
  • Luke Donald, England (1) 18/1
  • Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland (3) 18/1

Tiger Woods Favored Over Webb Simpson at Greenbriar

Can Tiger Woods win two weeks in a row? Oddsmakers seem to emphatically think so — Tiger is a big +350 favorite to win this week at the Greenbriar Classic in West Virginia, a week after winning the AT&T National at Congressional outside Washington, D.C. His nearest competition is expected to come from reigning US Open Champ Webb Simpson at +1600.

The field also includes longtime Tiger rival Phil Mickelson, last year’s PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley, and Bill Haas, who made it to a three-way playoff here last year before losing to Scott Stallings. The international player with the best odds to win this week is Zimbabwe’s Brandon De Jonge.

Here are your 2012 Greenbriar Classic odds for all the top competitors:

  • Tiger Woods, USA (World Ranking: 2) 7/2
  • Webb Simpson, USA (5) 16/1
  • Phil Mickelson, USA (15) 20/1
