During two weeks now we have witnessed the highest level of football in the World (obviously ignoring the performances of France and Italy) ans we have now reached the point where we only have 32 teams remaining in the World Cup. Right now we are at the stage that is referred to as “The Round of 16” and we thought it would be a good idea to post our predictions for the eight upcoming games.

Uruguay vs. Korea Republic Prediction

Uruguay finished first in their group with two wins and one draw. Over their three games in the group stages they have scored 4 goals and their goal keeper has been keeping a clean sheet in all three games.

Korea Republic were lucky to advance from their group after winning one game, playing one draw and losing one game with a goal difference of 5-6.

In this match we hold Uruguay as the strongest side by far but once it comes down to the knockout stages it’s always a different game than in the group stages where you can afford to lose one game.

Our Bet: Uruguay wins this in regular time at the odds of -120 at BetUS.

USA vs. Ghana Prediction

USA actually ended up winning their group even though they were up against teams like England, Slovenia and Algeria. They are still undefeated with 1 win and 2 draws.

Ghana is the last remaining African team after having finished second in their group after Germany. During the group stages they won 1 game, played 1 draw and they lost the last game against the group winner Germany.

This game is almost impossible to predict as the two teams are very equal. USA have been very unlucky with some calls made by the referees in their games while Ghana are very fortunate to even be through the group stages. It is however very unwise to underestimate Ghana based on those facts.

Our Bet: A draw at full time to the odds of +200 at BetUS.

Germany vs. England Prediction

Germany won their group thanks to having a better goal difference than Ghana who ended up second. They have 2 wins and one loss in the group stages with a goal difference of 5-1.

England finished second in their group after USA after having 1 win and 2 draws with a goal difference of only 2-1.

Having seen both England and Germany in this years World Cup I can’t understand why the sportsbooks are thinking this is going to be a close call. If England continues to perform like they did in the group stages then I can’t see Germany losing this game.

Our Bet: Germany to win on regular time at the odds of +175 at BetUS.

Argentina vs. Mexico Prediction

Argentina is one of the favorites to win the World Cup and they have played impressively during the group stages with 3 straight wins and a goal difference of 7-1.

Mexico finished second in their group after 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss and a goal difference of 3-2.

Based on their performance in the group stages I would have to say that Argentina are probably the most likely to win this entire tournament and I can’t see the Mexican side having any chance to threaten Maradona’s boys here.

Our Bet: Argentina to win on regular time at the odds of -200 at BetUS.

Netherlands vs. Slovakia Prediction

The Dutch team ended up winning their group after three straight wins and a goal difference of 5-1.

Slovakia finished second in their group with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss and a poor goal difference of 4-5.

There is no way that a team like Netherlands, with a proud World Cup history are going to miss out on the Group of 8 due to a team like Slovakia. The Dutch side are simply too strong here.

Our Bet: Netherlands to win on regular time at the odds of -205 at BetUS.

Brazil vs. Chile Prediction

Brazil won their group after 2 wins and one draw and a goal difference of 5-2.

Chile finished second in their group after 2 wins and one loss and a goal difference of 3-2.

As always when it comes to the World Cup Brazil is one of the favorites to win the whole thing. This year they haven’t impressed me a lot though and I have a feeling we might be in for an upset here.

Chile have been very impressive during the group stages with Sanchez playing a big part in their attacking skills. I think that if Sanchez keeps on playing the way he has been doing he is bound to score against Brazil.

Our Bet: Draw at regular time at the odds of +285 at BetUS.

Paraguay vs. Japan Prediction

Paraguay won their group after 1 win and two draws and are still undefeated in the 2010 World Cup.

Japan finished second in their group after 2 wins and one loss and a goal difference of 4-2.

Japan were underdogs in the final game against Denmark in which they had to win in order to advance. I was more disappointed with the Danish side in that game than I was impressed by the Japanese team. It think Japan are going to find it very hard to beat Paraguay here and they can start booking their tickets back home.

Our Bet: Paraguay to win during regular time at the odds of +110 at BetUS.

Spain vs. Portugal Prediction

Spain ended up winning their group with 2 wins and 1 loss and a goal difference of 4-2.

Portugal finished second in the “Group of Death” with 1 win and 2 draws and a goal difference of 7-0 (all goals scored against Korea DPR).

Spain got off to a terrible start in this World Cup after a 1-0 loss to Switzerland but got back on their feet and managed to win the group after beating Chile in the last game.

Portugal were less than impressive in their opening game when they played 0-0 against Ivory Coast. In the second game however we got to see tome real fireworks as they beat Korea DPR 7-0.

This game is really hard to predict and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up in a 0-0 draw after full time and overtime and we will need penalties to decide this game.

Our Bet: Draw at regular time at the odds of +200 at BetUS.

    Hey Steve,

The predictions you have given here is proof that you know what you are talking about. Four out of four is a great result and with the Netherlands being 1-0 up against Slovakia right now it seems like it’s gonna be 5 out of 5 as well.

I think you will end up at 6 our of 8 in the end. You will be wrong in the Brazil game because they win on regular time and then I think Japan will beat Paraguay.

Keep up the good work. Looking forward to reading your Quarter Final predictions.

Thanks a lot for these predictions. They have made me a pretty penny so far.

I am placing bets on Brazil to draw and Spain vs. Portugal to draw as we speak.

  5. Alex A. says:

Samba boys to trashed weakened Chile team today!

Brazil to win 3-1 or 3-0.

Or at least 2-1 victory at 90 mins FT.
