CFL Week 10 – Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Saskatchewan Roughriders

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-6) travel west to play against the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-3) Sunday afternoon. This is a huge game for both of these teams and the atmosphere should be electric for this Labour Day Weekend game. With both teams needing a victory in this game, I expect a lot of heavy hitting and plenty of points.

The Blue Bombers lost their last game in week 8 by the score of 39-17 against the Alouettes and it wasn’t a very pretty game. Jyles only completed 50% of his passes in the game, as he went 11-22 through the air with 123 yards and 1 TD. One of the downfalls was that he also committed 2 fumbles in the game. It was good to see RB Reid have a breakout game, as he ended up running the ball 14 times for 116 yards although he couldn’t break the goal line.

Saskatchewan lost last week 17-14 against the lowly Eskimos and it was a game that the entire team is going to want to forget as soon as possible. Durant had an awful game and ended up throwing 3 INT’s, which was a cause for concern. If Durant continues throwing INT’s at the rate he’s throwing them, the Roughriders may find themselves in trouble this week. RB Cates also didn’t look that good last week and was stopped to a mere 58 yards on 14 carries.

This will be the first meeting between these two teams this season and it’s going to be interesting. They also play each other next week, so both teams are going to be looking to win the 1st game and carry over the momentum into week 11. Last season the Roughriders managed to win both games against the Blue Bombers and covered the spread each game as well.

Predictions

The –9.5 point spread is a little scary for the Roughriders after watching them lose last week against Edmonton, but I think they should recover from their loss with a huge game on Sunday afternoon. Durant shouldn’t have that much of a problem running the offence against the Blue Bombers defence and I expect him to throw 0 INT’s. With the Blue Bombers coming off of their bye week they’re going to be well rested, but I still don’t think it’ll be enough to stay close to Saskatchewan.

The Roughriders are 5-2 ATS in their past 7 games at home against the Blue Bombers and I don’t think this trend is going to change this weekend. The Roughriders have also proven to be a good bounce back team, as they’re currently 6-1 in their last 7 games after losing the previous game. Considering they just lost to the Eskimos, who are currently a bottom feeder team, I expect the Roughriders to bring their best football game to the field on Sunday.

Both teams should score a lot of points this weekend, but with a 57.5 point total I’m going to have to lean with the under. The under is currently 4-1 in the last 5 games between these two teams and I don’t think they’ll be able to score more then 57.5 points. The QB situation in Winnipeg isn’t looking good and the offence can’t have much confidence right now.

• My Picks – Roughriders –9.5 & Under 57.5 Points
