Coming into these NBA playoffs, the Boston Celtics were thought to be another aging team on the verge of being ripped apart by free agency and no longer a title contender. Despite almost everyone not giving Doc Rivers’ squad chance against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the playoffs, the boys in green seemed to finally be healthy once again and were showing a striking resemblance to the championship team of 2008.

With arguably the best defense in the league and quite a few motivated veterans thirsty for another NBA title, the Boston Celtics have completely turned things around during these playoffs and are once again title contenders with only the Orlando Magic standing in their way of competing for another NBA championship.

Heading into their second round matchup with the Eastern Conference favorite Cleveland Cavaliers, the Celtics were thought to be overwhelmed by LeBron James and the revamped Cavs team with Antawn Jamison and Shaquille O’Neal. Even though at times the Cavs showed the dominance of the regular season, they just kept slipping back into playing sloppy and their leader failed consistently to put the team on his back and lead them to victory.

Needless to say, the upset over the Cleveland Cavaliers was epic to say the least for the Boston Celtics as it may have been just enough to turn around this aging NBA franchise and give them the much needed momentum to go after yet another NBA title.

Obviously, the Cleveland Cavaliers were a huge mountain to climb for the Boston Celtics, but they might have their work even more so in the Eastern Conference finals against Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic.

Coming into game one of the Eastern Conference finals, the Orlando Magic had almost too much rest and the Boston Celtics were just coming off a couple days rest. Even though many people believed the Magic would be ready to beat up a tired Celtics team in game one, the complete opposite happened as Kevin Garnett and company dominated the Magic on their home floor with their physical play and tenacious defense.

There is a long way to go in this series and the Boston Celtics barely go out of game one with the victory 92-88, but things are looking good for Doc Rivers’ squad moving forward as they are arguably now the favorite to advance to the NBA Finals.
