With the NFL regular season fast approaching, we at SportsUntapped are taking our crystal balls out of storage and examining each team’s full 16-game schedule to prognosticate how the 2012 season will play out. We’ll look at all 32 teams and reveal each one’s final record. Next up: Eli Manning and the fluketastic New York Giants, who will try to avoid a Super Fluke hangover.

Last year’s record: 9-7
Vegas Over/Under on 2012 Regular Season Wins: 9

First four games:
Sep 5 Dallas 8:30 pm
Sep 16 Tampa Bay 1:00 pm
Sep 20 @Carolina 8:20 pm
Sep 30 @Philadelphia 8:20 pm

The Giants only made the playoffs last year by beating the Cowboys on the final Sunday night of the regular season.  They’ll probably start the regular season the same way, but that could go either way.  They should also benefit from having ten days to prepare for a Sunday nighter against the Eagles.  The Giants have struggled early in the season in recent years, but I see a 3-1 start this year.
Second four games:

Oct 7 Cleveland 1:00 pm
Oct 14 @San Francisco 4:25 pm
Oct 21 Washington 1:00 pm
Oct 28 @Dallas 4:25 pm
The schedule gets pretty interesting here with the NFC Championship Game rematch against the 49ers, and two tough division games — remember the Redskins got two of their five wins last season against the Giants, and RGIII should have his feet wet by Week 7.  I see two losses in this stretch and a 5-3 mark at midseason for Big Blue.

First four games of the second half:

Nov 4 Pittsburgh 4:25 pm
Nov 11 @Cincinnati 1:00 pm
Week 11 BYE
Nov 25 Green Bay 8:20 pm
Dec 3 @Washington 8:30 pm

More fairly tough games here, the biggest the post-bye week visit from the Packers, but the AFC North games will also provide some problems.  Two more losses will put the Giants at 7-5 with four games to go.
Last four games:

Dec 9 New Orleans 4:25 pm
Dec 16 @Atlanta 1:00 pm
Dec 23 @Baltimore 1:00 pm
Dec 30 Philadelphia 1:00 pm

The last month could be brutal or again forge the beginnings of another flukey postseason run.  I see another 9-7 season and some nailbiting tiebreakers to see if they make the playoffs or not.  If the Eagles are more like what we expected a year ago, the Giants might be on the oustide lookin
