With the NFL regular season fast approaching, we at SportsUntapped are taking our crystal balls out of storage and examining each team’s full 16-game schedule to prognosticate how the 2011 season will play out. We’ll look at all 32 teams and reveal each one’s final record. Next up: Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, a team only a year removed from a Super Bowl title.

New Orleans Saints

Last year’s record: 11-5.

Vegas Over/Under on 2011 Regular Season Wins: 10.

First four games:
Sept. 8 at Green Bay, 8:30 p.m.
Sept. 18 Chicago, 1 p.m.
Sept. 25 Houston, 1 p.m.
Oct. 2 at Jacksonville, 1 p.m.

The Saints ended their Super Bowl defense in humiliating fashion, losing on Wild Card weekend to the 7-9 Seattle Seahawks. They face three pretty good teams to start the year, and most likely will need an easy win in Jacksonville to get to 2-2.

Second four games:
Oct. 9 at Carolina, 1 p.m.
Oct. 16 at Tampa Bay, 4:15 p.m.
Oct. 23 Indianapolis, 8:20 p.m.
Oct. 30 at St. Louis, 1 p.m.

The Buccaneers and Colts won’t be a walk in the park, and even the Rams could surprise people, but we’ll give the Saints three wins here to get them to 5-3 at midseason.

First four games of the second half:

Nov. 6 Tampa Bay, 1 p.m.
Nov. 13 at Atlanta, 1 p.m.
Nov. 20 BYE
Nov. 28 N.Y. Giants, 8:30 p.m.
Dec. 4 Detroit, 1 p.m.

The bye week should help the Saints beat the Giants, and the Lions should be fairly easy, so we’ll put down another three wins here to get the Saints to 8-4.

Last four games:

Dec. 11 at Tennessee, 1 p.m.
Dec. 18 at Minnesota, 1 p.m.
Dec. 26 Atlanta, 8:30 p.m.
Jan. 1 Carolina, 1 p.m.

Should be at least three wins to end the season here, with a home game against Atlanta maybe deciding the division. We’ll say 11-5 with a tiebreaker deciding the NFC South.
