You Can’t Stop The Mustapha Farrakhan Train

Last night, during Virgina’s win over NC State, Mustapha Farrakhan gave us one of those dunks that simply resonates. Now, there are a large number of plays across the sporting universe that qualify as “facing” your opponent. A receiver busting a defensive’s back’s ass for a crucial touchdown, a running back trucking a safety, a home run blast following a brush-back pitch, a one-punch knockout. Any and all of these kinds of plays are acceptable.

However, there’s something almost sublime about dunking the ball in somebody’s face.  It’s like combining a “how dare you” action with a ” back the **** up” response, and if done correctly — ala Mustapha Farrakhan — then it’s downright memorable. As indicated, Farrakhan dunked on the Wolfpack’s Javier Gonzalez so ruthlessly, they could almost press terroristic threatening charges.

Speaking of charges, I’m honestly surprised Farrakhan didn’t get a technical foul for getting in Gonzalez’ face after the dunk. In today’s college basketball world, it was certainly a technical-worthy action.

For his part in the Cavaliers win, Farrakhan finished with 11 points and the dunk of a lifetime. Not a bad night at all.
