Who’s In Your Final Four?

Yeah, it might be a tad premature for this, but when you think about it, Selection Sunday is only about four weeks away. So while you might not be ready for it, you can’t avoid it because it’s coming. And brackets are coming with it.

With that, who stands out to you for the Final Four?

Joe Lunardi and his fantastic hair have been knee-deep doing their Bracektology thing, and with a large portion of the regular season already over, it’s pretty clear which teams are legitimate threats and which ones aren’t. According to Lunardi, the current number one seeds are:

Kansas (Midwest)
Kentucky (East)
Purdue (West)
Syracuse (South)

With West Virginia, Villanova, Kansas State and Duke rounding out the respective two seeds. While this is, by and large, the consensus shared by pretty much every pundit, the questions about which four survive the longest will go one until the we actually arrive at the Final Four — another month away.

Each number one seed has shown signs of weakness; whether it’s Kentucky’s inconsistent outside shooting, KU’s apparent lack of backcourt depth (sorry, but Tyshawn Taylor doesn’t move my dial), Purdue’s lack of interior depth (not named JaJuan Johnson) and Syracuse’s inability to find Wes Johnson when it counts, there’s a belief that there are no truly dominant teams, just a bunch of good ones.

And that fact makes the 2010 Big Dance look as wide open as any. So who ya got? All number one seeds? Is there room for a surprise team like Vanderbilt or Ohio State? Or does the talent level of teams like KU and UK make those teams null and void?

So many questions, so little time. Fortunately for us, we don’t have to wait much longer to find out who’s right and who’s wrong.
