Who Dat? Oh It’s Just Dallas

Drew Brees and his New Orleans Saints had to kiss their perfect season goodbye Saturday night after the Dallas Cowboys mangled their unbeaten dreams with a 24-17 road victory.

Wait… a road victory for the Cowboys in December? I stand corrected.

Romo passed for 312 yards, including a giant 49-yard touchdown pass to Miles Austin. Marion Barber had a couple TD runs for the 9-5 Cowboys, who hushed the rowdy Superdome crowd and held the home team to just a field goal for the majority of the game.

Three possessions separated the two teams heading into the fourth quarter, but New Orleans came back quickly and scored twice to make it 24-17. The 2-minute warning approached and all Nick Folk had to do was chip in a  24-year field goal to make it a 10-point game and seal the deal for Dallas. Instead, he botched it off the right upright, giving the Saints a chance to tie it up.

Brees marched into Cowboys territory, but on second down, DeMarcus Ware — who pretty much reinvented the pass rush in his comeback from a neck injury — sacked Brees and forced a fumble that was recovered by Dallas with 6 seconds left. Game over.

But hey Saints fans, 13-1 isn’t all that bad.

This leaves the Indianapolis Colts as the last man standing in the race to a perfect season, which obviously keeps them at the very top of our power rankings. Enjoy Sunday’s games, and don’t forget to stay up for Week 15′s Monday Night Football matchup between the New York Giants and Washington Redskins.
