Wanderlei Silva will fight Michael Bisping at UFC 110 in Australia this Saturday. His young son Thor is asking all of “The Axe Murderer” fans to come together in support.
Silva is a slight favorite in the fight according to a few different sportsbooks. Bisping was downright hammered by Dan Henderson at UFC 100, but he came back with a very impressive performance against Denis Kang at UFC 105. But like Hendo, Silva can throw vicious hands. When Silva lands one or two — and I have no doubt he will — will Bisping be able to hold up?
Since his return to the UFC — Silva fought 3 times in the UFC in the late 90′s — Silva is just 1-3, his lone win coming against Keith Jardine. But now Silva makes his first appearance at middleweight, where ostensibly his power should have an even bigger impact. He hopes Bisping will feel it.
Some have questioned Silva’s chin since his return to the UFC. After all, this will be his 45th professional fight. But Silva was recently quoted as saying that Bisping does not possess the power to knock him out. That may be true. But Bisping does have quickness on his side and that could pose a problem for Silva. One punch likely won’t fall Silva, but a quick Bisping flurry could rock him. Still, I like Wandy by murderous KO.
All in all it has the makings of a terrific fight. And with the instability of the middleweight division, the winner may be in line for a title shot sooner rather than later.
