UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III goes down Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. We are 10-3 for the last 3 event, so we hope you are taking advantage of our free picks. Here are Sports Untapped’s UFC 136 free picks!
Melvin Guillard -450 vs. Joe Lauzon +300
The up and down career of Joe Lauzon will go on back down the slide on Saturday night. Lauzon is a solid fighter and well-rounded martial artist, but Guillard is on a completely different plane when it comes to speed and power. Take Guillard -450.
Leonard Garcia +175 vs. Nam Phan -225
This is a rematch of a fight that ended in a controversial decision, one in which the judges awarded Garcia the victory. Garcia took the fight on short notice, taking the call right after he ate Thanksgiving dinner and had to drop a lot weight just to make the cut. But even an extended camp won’t help him on Saturday. Phan will win this time in convincing fashion. Take Phan -225.
We hope you took advantage of our free picks for UFC Fight Night 25. We went 4-0, which included our upset special of Jake Ellenberger over Jake Shields. Here are our free picks for UFC 135: Jones vs. Rampage.
Ben Rothwell -340 vs. Mark Hunt +260
It’s kind of amazing that Hunt is even in the UFC. He lost six fights in a row before finally getting a win against Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 127. Rothwell has been on the shelf after ACL surgery since June of 2010. But Rothwell is a very well-rounded fighter who recently unveiled a rather stunning new physique. He’ll win this handily, and he’ll do it wherever he wants to, whether it’s on the ground or standing. Take Rothwell -340.
Nate Diaz -250 vs. Takanori Gomi +190
Here are Sports Untapped’s free picks for UFC 131.
Donald Cerrone -400 vs. Vagner Rocha +300 I’d personally rather see this on the prelims and not on the PPV, but Donald “The Cowboy” Cerrone is a bit of a character and marketable. The line doesn’t lie here. Cerrone seems back to form after losses to his nemesis Ben Henderson. This is also Rocha’s first fight in the UFC, and Cerrone is just better in all areas. Take Cerrone -400.
Demian Maia -105 vs. Mark Munoz -125 I’m already calling this to be the fight of the night. I expect there will be standup exchanges, serious grappling and plenty of scrambles. I’ve been impressed with the progress from Maia since his defeat to Anderson Silva. his striking is much improved and his ground game is obviously second to none. I just don’t see Munoz knocking out Maia, and if it goes to the ground he loses there. Take Maia -105.
The Ultimate Fighter season 13 is coming to a close with the finale set for Saturday. Here are our free picks.
Clay Guida +145 vs. Anthony Pettis -175
Anthony Pettis is an excellent fighter and he is a crowd pleaser with his style. But on Saturday night he runs into the non-stop buzzsaw that is Clay Guida. Look for Guida to repeatedly take Pettis down and pound on him. It might take a decision, but Guida will win this. Take Guida +145
Ramsey Nijem -140 vs. Tony Ferguson +110
Ferguson made himself a villain of sorts with his drunken fit in the TUF house. Nijem went around taking his clothes off all the time. Which is worse? You make the call! And the call on this fight? Based on what we saw on the show I would say that Nijem will take this. Take Nijem -140
