The UFC gets it on with its second event of the year — and second in 10 days — with UFC Fight Night 20 in Fairfax, Virginia. Here are our free UFC picks.
Brad Blackburn (+135) vs. Amir Sadollah (-145)
Sadollah may be “The Ultimate Fighter”, but Brad “Bad” Blackburn has a ton of experience and has fought some big names. Blackburn comes into this fight riding a 4-fight win streak, including his first 3 bouts in the UFC. Sadollah needed a decision to beat the irrelevant Phil Baroni at UFC 106, and got knocked out by Johny Hendricks at UFC 101. So don’t be surprised when Blackburn KOs Sadollah. Take Blackburn +135
Tom Lawlor (+260) vs. Aaron Simpson (-240)
Lawlor is coming off a submission win against the overrated C.B. Dollaway. Simpson is 6-0 with 6 (T)KOs. If Lawlor is a late night, rowdy house party, Simpson is the pissed off cop banging on the door at 2am. We all know how that ends. Take Simpson -240
Evan Dunham (+230) vs. Efrain Escudero (-240)
The undefeated Escudero has had impressive wins in his first 2 UFC fights, a decision win over Phillipe Nover to win TUF 8 and a TKO against Cole Miller at UFC 103. Dunham is also undefeated and like Escudero, a skilled ground technician and perhaps underrated as a striker. Still, I like Escudero wherever this fight may go. Take Escudero -240
Nate Diaz (+280) vs. Gray Maynard (-290)
Diaz is always entertaining. He’s either freakishly submitting someone, flicking them off — or both. Maynard seems like the world’s most focused MMA fighter and is undefeated. Ostensibly, Maynard could repeat the gameplan followed by Clay Guida and Joe Stevenson that earned them wins over Diaz. While Diaz can trap any fighter in a quick sub, the question is merely this: has he adapted enough to face another tough wrestler in Maynard and win a decision? Doubtful. Be wary of the sub, but the smart money’s on “The Bully”. Take Maynard -290
I’ve been doing really well with my UFC betting picks lately, so this might be a good indication for sports betting if you are feeling lucky.
