Over the past five years or so, the Houston Rockets have been a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference with the one-two punch of Yao Ming in the paint and Tracy McGrady on the perimeter. Apparently, those days are done in Houston as Yao Ming hasn’t played a single game this season and McGrady has basically been pushed out of Houston as they are fed up of his constant injury problems throughout his time in Houston.

Earlier this season McGrady was ready to come back into the Rockets lineup and get back where he left off as one of the best perimeter players in the NBA, but head coach Rick Adelman and the Rockets organization had pretty already moved on with a new young core of players and would rather trade their injury prone superstar instead of implementing him back in the starting lineup.

Personally, I don’t disagree with what the Houston Rockets have done as it is definitely time for both parties to move on and when Yao Ming comes back, they should do the same with him.

Now that the two sides have come to an agreement and part ways, the team has been actively searching for a team that is willing to take on McGrady’s contract, but have failed to find any other team willing to take a chance on the injury prone superstar.

Fortunately though, the Rockets might have found a taker in the New York Knicks in a three way deal which would also involve the Washington Wizards.

Reportedly, the deal would send Tracy McGrady to the New York Knicks and then Al Harrington would head to the Washington Wizards while the Houston Rockets would get Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood.

Talk about a blockbuster deal! In my opinion, the Knicks and the Rockets come out on top in this one and the Wizards save some money for the upcoming free agent market filled with prime time talent like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

If Tracy McGrady ever had a chance to resurrect his career in the NBA, it would be on the big stage in New York where he would have the opportunity to be the go to guy once again!

As of the Houston Rockets, they would almost certainly be a much better basketball team with the addition of one of the best small forwards in the game in Butler and a solid inside presence with Haywood.

Apparently the Wizards just need another player,a  draft pick and some cash to make this work, but I won’t be surprised to see this blockbuster trade go down before the NBA trade deadline on February 18th.
