The Toronto Blue Jays ended their season long five game losing streak on Friday evening, edging the New York Yankees 6-1. The Blue Jays scored 1 run in the 8th inning to tie the game, and then exploded in the 11th inning for five runs to win the game.

Alex Rodriguez got the offense going for the Yankees in the first inning with a sac fly to center scoring Derek Jeter. Aaron Hill’s single in the 8th inning plated Jose Bautista and essentially sent the game into extra innings. In the 11th, Alex Gonzalez drove in Lyle Overbay to give Toronto a 2-1 lead. A Vernon Wells walk moved the game to 3-1, and then Dwyane Wise tripled to clear the bases.

David Robertston took the loss for the Yankees, allowing 3 hits and 4 runs in 1.1 innings pitched. A.J. Burnett was the starter for the Yankees, pitching 6.2 innings, and yielding 4 hits and no runs.

Jason Frasor picked up his 3rd win of the season by pitching a scoreless 10th inning for the Blue Jays. Brett Cecil was the starter for Toronto, as he allowed 4 hits and one run.

The win for Toronto pushed them to one game over .500, at 41-40 on the season. They are now 21-23 when away from the Rogers Centre in Toronto. New York is now 48-31 on the season, and 26-13 at home.

The two teams will go back at it Saturday afternoon with J.C. Romero for Toronto taking on left hander Andy Pettitte for New York. Sunday will feature Brandon Morrow against Phil Hughes.
