Thierry Henry Signs with New York Red Bulls

The absence of David Beckham is perhaps being overshadowed by the new signing of French star Thierry Henry. The star striker will join the club in hopes of finally bringing home an MLS championship to the Salzburg sister team.

Will he succeed? Well it’s tough to say, because everyone thought Beckham would have a cakewalk through the MLS, but statistics proved otherwise. Henry is aging, there is no doubt about that, and a goalless campaign in coming off the bench at Barcelona certainly will not boost his confidence. And even though he has been in a recent slump, he still retains the quality it takes to be ranked among the World’s best attackers. I think he will spice up a mediocre Red Bulls squad and could possibly single-handedly make a run deep into the playoffs with New York.

Henry is an experienced player that can bring some calm and confidence to a New York Red Bulls squad that really does have all the keys to succeed. I think this is also good for the MLS because it goes to show that big name players are still attracted to the American game. People may call him washed up, but the fact of the matter is that he is still a quality striker that will undoubtedly make a lasting impact for his team and his new league.

A big mistake. Why on earth did they do this? The guy is done, is known as a cheater in Europe (ask any Irishman) and is years past his prime. Plus, he is an arrogant jerk – far from Beckham.
This is a waste of money.
