The return of Brett Favre…again?

The talk of Brett Favre’s decision to return or retire has been a little less this year than last year.  This is most likely because most people already have an idea what he is doing.  During the last few months, Favre walked a similar path than the one prior to last season’s announcement.

Favre confirmed that he had ankle surgery May 20 on his website.  The surgery that was performed by noted orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrew and a procedure that Favre has had in the past to remove scar tissue and bone spurs.  Like the shoulder surgery prior to the 2009 season, it was a procedure that needed done if he was going to play in the upcoming season.

Last month Favre actually began throwing a football around with other players.  But it wasn’t because he was attending OTA’s.  The star quarterback graced the kids of Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, MS with his presence during practice.  Last year Favre started throwing before his decision to return the NFL for a 19th season at the same high school.

Finally, Minnesota Vikings coach, Brad Childress, hopped a plane to visit with Favre in Hattiesburg, MS.  Last year when Childress did this there were reports that Favre shot the coach down and said he wasn’t returning.  A couple days later Brett and his wife were in Minneapolis to announce his signing with the Vikings.

Favre has done a lot to stay in game form.  A future Hall of Fame quarterback such as Brett Favre doesn’t require much “practice” for the upcoming season.  The fewer hits he takes during the preseason actually helps him at the end of the season.  As most people believe, it is only a matter of time before Favre announces his return for a 20th NFL Season.   He is only keeping quite so no one knows he has been granted preferential treatment and not required to attend most of training camp.
