The Cincinnati Bengals are up to their old shenanigans again. Not only did they workout walking rap sheet Pacman Jones yesterday, but they also went ahead and signed wide receiver Matt Jones. Two guys who were out of football last season because they have a tendency to break the law.

I’d weep for the Bengals, but they’re not worth my tears. Just when you think they learned a lesson from the Chris Henry tragedy, they reach back into the bag of troubled athletes and pull out a couple winners. And by winners, I mean losers.

Criminal records aside, neither Jones has proven himself on the field. Matty struggled to transition to wide receiver after college and Pacman showed flashes of brilliance as a return man, but sucked as a cornerback. If you’re going to sign an ex-con or repeat offender, at least make sure the cat can ball. That way it’s easier to justify the move when said jackass gets busted with nose candy while running a red light drunk.

On the bright side, the Bungals are doing an excellent job of restocking their halfway house. All that’s left to do is ink Donte Stallworth and trade for Michael Vick, then their offseason plan will be complete. Playoffs schmayoffs. Who needs the postseason when you can finish 4-12 with league’s most felonious roster?
