Tennis Betting Odds: US Open Round 1

The US Open starts today with some guaranteed easy wins, one or two upsets and some really tight matches. Here is a look at the most interesting tennis action along with tennis betting odds from Sportsinteraction.

Davydenko vs Russell. This might be an upset, how strange it may seem to you. Here we have a veteran and great tennis figher in Michael Russell (always short-sleeved to show his muscles) against Davydenko who is not in top form. For you who like to take a risk and get high odds I suggest a bet on Russell here at 6 times your money

De Bakker vs Gicquel. De Bakker is a great talent, but hasn’t he been playing a little too much this year? Gicquel is up and down, but he seems to have found some kind of form going into the Open. I think he has a chance against the Dutch junior. You get odds 3.50 at Sportsinteraction if you bet on Gicquel win.

Monfils vs Kendrick. Another possible upset. Monfils is an extremely up and down player that hasn’t shown steady form in a long time. Kendrick is quite a competent player who will find extra strength in New York City. I think 3.35 is a good price on a Kendrick win!

Tipsarevic vs Rochus. Two players who both belong higher up in the ratings when they play their best tennis, but you just can’t seem to do it regularly. Rochus is up 4-2 in head to head and won their last three encounters and that is why I hold him as the favorite at 2.60 times your money.

Melzer vs Tursunov. Tursunov has good groundstrokes with great power, but he lacks consistency and focus. Melzer is on the high of his career. Tursunov has won their previous two meetings, but that was in 2007 and 2004. Melzer in three.

Hewitt vs Mathieu. Mathieu is one of the great unrealized talents. I guess it must be mental, because the game is there. Hewitt is the opposite. Not much of a talent when it comes to shot making, but one of the best fighters on tour. That is why he wins this match in four sets. Good match to watch though.

Ferrer vs Dolgopolov. Dolgopolov must be confusing to play. He is definitly confusing to watch with those unorthodox shots of his. But he is a creative and daring player and very exciting to watch. Despite his inventiveness I think he will have a hard time against the player who runs the most on tour without catching his breath. Ferrer in five.

Chardy vs Gulbis. Expect some deadly winner in this one. Each player has a gun on both wings and it is going to be a lot of blasting away. Gulbis is the more solid of the two and will win.

Vliegen vs Blake. Everybody’s hoping to see the old Blake in this year’s US Open but I highly doubt that he will make a run here. Hopefully he can get past Vliegen in the first round, but that is far from a given.

Llodra vs Berdych. Not an easy opening match for Berdych as Llodra loves to chip and charge his way on fast courts. Berdych is in great form though and although he might drop a set due to opening round nerves, he will come through this one fairly comfortable.

Let the Open begin!
