It will apparently take more than three straight losses to end the regular season to shake the confidence of Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. The occasional miracle man completed just six of 22 passes for 60 yards in Sunday’s 7-3 home loss to the Chiefs, but the Broncos still backed into the playoffs at 8-8 thanks to the Oakland Raiders losing. If Tebow’s worried, he sure isn’t saying so.
Despite the losses, Tebow still feels blessed (shocker):
The three losses haven’t shaken my confidence. I’ve had to go through a lot of ups and downs in my sports career, and so I’m not going to let a few losses affect my confidence. I’m still out there playing the game that I love, so I still consider myself very blessed and honored to be playing quarterback for such a great organization. There have probably been a few plays in there I should have tried to force, to make a play, you know, make something happen. But that’s just part of the game.
Perhaps more surprisingly, Broncos coach John Fox tried to deflect blame from his passing-challenged quarterback in advance of next week’s home playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers — and Fox even vaguely compared Tebow to Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers. “There’s a lot of moving parts to the pass game,” said Fox. “It’s not just the quarterback. … He’s trying to do the best he can to help us win. He had a little bit of a struggle yesterday throwing the ball. That happens sometimes. You have to give credit to the Kansas City Chiefs. They’ve got a pretty good defense. They made a pretty good Green Bay Packer offense have some struggles.”
Early lines have the Steelers as eight- to nine-point road favorites for Sunday’s game against Tebow and the Broncos.
