According to the Chad Ochocinco Network, via Jay Glazer’s Twitter, there’s a possibility we’ll see Owens in Cincinnati Bengals stripes in 2010/11. Considering how the Bengals’ passing attack flamed out towards the end of the season, coupled with the unfortunate death of Chris Henry, the desire for more talent makes perfect sense.
However, is Owens the right fit for (Anybody?) the Queen City, especially with such a personality as Ochocinco’s in town?
Granted, this is largely speculative, but Chad’s been right before.
Is the Cincinnati Bengals franchise strong enough for two players as potentially polarizing as Owens and Johnson Ochocinco? Is Marvin Lewis? Is the city? What about the team’s fans? While a productive Carson Palmer could keep Owens in business, would T.O. react negatively if more went to Chad? Would Chad if the opposite were true?
All worthy questions, and if the Bengals are honestly considering this move, they had better have them answered to their satisfaction before making such a move. Conversely, if the Bengals get improved production from their pass-catchers, the promise they showed last season could blossom into something more.
But hey, this is the Bengals we’re talking about here.
