Tracy McGrady wants out of Houston and the Rockets organization, pronto.

McGrady and the team have reportedly reached an agreement that will allow him to leave the team while both sides try to get a trade going.

This all stems from Rockets coach Rick Adelman’s statement from last week that he had no intention of increasing the guard-forward’s playing time. McGrady has averaged just under eight minutes per game in six appearances this season after missing the first 23 games due to rehabilitation from microfracture surgery on his left knee.

Given T-Mac’s giant league-high salary of $23 million this season — the final year of his contract — it will be pretty difficult to trade him straight up. Expect talks to heat up closer to the trade deadline in mid-February.

“I will tell you what,” McGrady boasted. “If anything were to happen, whoever [trades for him] is going to get a hell of a player… a hungry one, too.”

The 18-13 Rockets head home Tuesday night to take on the New Orleans Hornets, who are a 5-point underdog in the contest.
