So, the Colts are going to the Super Bowl. And joining them will be the New Orleans Saints. Congratulations to both organizations and their fans. It has the potential to be a classic shootout. The two best teams during the regular season will meet in the Big Game. How often does that happen?

There will plenty of storylines to delve into over the next two weeks. Great offense versus great offense. Drew Brees versus Peyton Manning. Archie Manning versus the Saints franchise. I’m sure each will be beaten to death ad nauseam. Nothing sickens the stomach quite like pre-Super Bowl hype.

To be honest, there’s only one angle I give a hoot about. After a season of guessing and wondering, and wondering and guessing, we will finally get to find out which Pierre is the best in the NFL.

Pierre Garcon or Pierre Thomas?

The two Frenchies have been making serious noise the last couple months. In fact, both gents were a large reason why their teams advanced to Miami. Garcon hauled in eleven balls for 151 yards and a touchdown against the Jets. Thomas totaled 99 yards and two scores in disposing of the Vikings.

I can’t wait for this titanic tussle between players with girlie French names. Things could get ugly. I envision (fingers crossed) a scenario that involves berets, pastries, souffle and expensive wine being catapulted from sideline to sideline.

February 7th can’t get here fast enough.
