I saw HBO and Showtime doing a joint fight promotion for the Mike Tyson vs. Lennox Lewis fight. The UFC likes to talk about ‘making fights fans want to see’ and boxing not doing so, but there are dozens of inter-promotional boxing events every year. Like the forthcoming Mayweather/Pacquiao which is a Top Rank/Golden Boy co-promotion.

Co-promotion on fight cards is also very common in Japanese MMA. There may be very good business reasons why Dana White doesn’t want to co-promote an event with M-1, but its far from unprecedented in fight sports.

Dana is also of the deluded notion that fans want to see Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell 3.

i would pay massive amounts of money to watch that happen. it disgusts me a little that lesnar is even taken seriously.

Yeah, the whole rematch thing is dumb. Idunno why the announcer guy asked Fedor for a rematch, that was silly. Also, Bart Rodgers took it on as if Fedor was asking for a rematch. hah, come on, man… The guy did the exact thing Burt kept whaling at: “imma go for the knockout man, imma knock him out, yea man, imma knock him out” ……. BOOOOM! hahahah

I’m pretty sure Fedor was giving fans some drama. He cleared many tougher opponents much quicker. The guy has so many tricks up his sleve, he’s a walking killing machine man.

round 1: fedor dominated. Rogers got maybe 3 or 4 punches in for the whole round while Fedor threw some shots standing, some takedowns, a kimura submission attempt, an armbar submission attempt (which only didn’t work because the cage got in the way of Fedor’s legs), and a choke submission attempt while in half-guard.
round 2: fedor dominated again. And Rogers got knocked out.
Why would anyone think that Rogers deserves a rematch or even has a chance at winning if offered another fight?

i dont think fedor was ever in trouble… if u have fought before, u know that catching the jab to the face and receiving damage to the nose is part of the fight, it happens… i saw rogers in trouble in round 1 with the left and then finished in the second… bottom line… i just dont see rogers beating this guy , he is too intelligent for him and just too good of a fighter… rogers deserves no rematch with the way he carried himself… he is lucky big john got in there to stop fedor from knocking his teeth out and the bell also saved his a$$ in round 1 as well… he showed no respect to the better fighter and no discipline whatsoever, no wonder he lost the fight to this man… u dont discredit and talk smack in the midst of being rocked and tko’d, no way… the man beat ya, come down to earth, take the loss, congratulate him on the victory , and ask for a rematch… he acted like a punk in that interview…

Fedor was asked immediately by the announcer if he would like a rematch with Rogers. It wasn’t Rogers bringing this up it was the announcers trying to pump up the emtional content of the show.

1. What a great fight
2. I’m a big fan of Fedor and honestly that fight kept me on my toes. It could have gone either way. Rogers IS a heavy hitter and 1 mistake on either side would have ended the match… that mistake came from Rogers. I agree that before Rogers should requesting a re-match he HAS to earn it, since he was the one that got knocked out.
3. I do hate Fedors translator (that fat chick), I cannot believe that she cannot even get Fedor’s responses translated correctly. Fedor was extremely nice in his answers, thanking Rogers for the fight, thanking fans and telling them that its their win and not his… And Rodgers acted like a complete ass, even after he got the opportunity to fight the best MMA fighter int he world who had 30 wins and 1 controversial loss… just disrespectful.
4. I think UFC has a very good HW devision, can it be compared to SF? probably. We are only previewed to UFC fighters mostly since UFC dominates the market in US, but in Europe and Asia there are also ton of great HWs… So saying UFC has best HW devision is stupid because you are disregarding all other fighters from round the world.
5. and last but not least do a google search for “Fedor” go to his wikipedia page and look at this fighting record. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedor_Emelianenko) Now honestly tell me if Lesnar can compete with this? I hardly doubt it. Lesnar is great athlete, but he reminds me of Tim Silvia. yes he was a champ and defended his belt few times, but they plunge down very fast and cannot keep up with “new” fighters that are arising… Fedor fought for 9 years and he has not been defeted in those 9 years, I think that says it all.

The general consensus is that Fedor was in trouble, right or wrong. I believe that’s true.

The only moment Fedor was in trouble that was Rogers’ GNP. Fedor negated it. He knocked Rogers out. What else do you want? The guy had his chance and lost. No rematch for him. There is a waiting line to fight Fedor and Rogers has just used his line number.

No rematch for Rogers. He got KOd and before even thinking of fighting Fedor again he gotta make 3-4 impressive wins in a row to deserve the honor.
Rogers is a slob and ass hole. Showing disrespect to the best fighter ever after Fedor was so gracious to him. He should not have left the project where he grew up.

First of all, Rogers didn’t even deserve to fight Fedor the first time. He landed 3 weak punches the entire fight before almost being submitted twice then finally KTFO! Now he deserves a rematch? L O L

I’ve seen Fedor vs. Coleman. Rogers was knocked out, to be sure. But I guarantee you that fight fans want to see that again. The general consensus is that Fedor was in trouble, right or wrong. I believe that’s true.

I have no bias to Strikeforce. I just think that with Fedor and the others I mentioned, their HW division is more compelling than the UFC.

Wow, you seem incredibly biased. Fedor is their only real HW draw and you know it. I think Strikeforce does have the potential to put up some competition against the UFC (which is always good).

Those questions for Fedor after the fight were absurd. He asked Fedor if he would consider a rematch, as if he was the one who lost. You don’t ask the winner (who just won in a very dramatic way) that kind of question. Rogers also acted very disrespectful considering he got KTFO. I haven’t seen a hit that hard in a long time.

matt, if you have ever watched coleman vs fedor you would know fedor wants to trap the arm when strikes land and throw the arm bar over which he nearly pulled off. so more than getting rocked, it was more like he planned it . just watch coleman vs fedor 1 and you will know what i mean.
