Six Teams Size Up Wang

According to Chien-Ming Wang’s agent, six teams think they have a hole that Wang could fill.  The teams are currently taking a close look at Wang and Wang’s medical records.

Wang was historically impotent last year and hasn’t pitched since July 4, 2009.  Yet, less than two years ago, Wang was being worshiped as the ace of the Yankees.

Despite the extremely disappointing 2009 season filled with Wang’s premature exits (he had a 34.50 ERA in three April starts and ended the season with a flaccid 9.64 ERA), his agents still think they can get big money for Wang, even if Wang must wait a long time:

“We’re anticipating a major-league offer with a substantial guarantee and substantial upside …. We’re so confident with what is going to happen, if we don’t do it until May, we’re OK. Whoever shows the initiative to take a little bit of risk is going to win.”

Wang hopes to be up for throwing off a mound in a week or two.

The Mets seem like a good bet to swallow Wang’s demands, but I expect Wang to flop wherever he goes.
