Does Tiger Woods deserve to be on the Ryder Cup Team? That’s the question that must be passing through Cory Pavin’s mind right now as Tiger Woods missed yet another cut this season after finishing 6 over par at the Bridgestone Invitational. Tiger started out by shooting 2 over par the first round and had to get a good score during today’s round but ended up shooting 4 over instead. Tiger is so far from where he was pre-scandal it’s not even funny.

Let’s say for the sake of argument that Carey Pavin would pick Tiger to play in the 2010 Ryder Cup. What would happen if he fails miserably? That could quite possibly be a career ending scenario as Tiger would definitely lose the few supporters he has left in this world. But then again I have to wonder what would happen if Corey Pavin would decide not to pick Tiger for the Ryder Cup team and Team USA would end up losing. That would surely not sit well with the US fans that he neglected to pick the current number one on the world rankings. I can imagine this is giving Carey Pavin quite a headache at the moment and I would not like to be in his shoes.

What you have to take in to consideration here is that you need a team effort in order to win the Ryder Cup. With so many players having spoken out against Tiger during the scandal you would have to wonder how the other players on the team would feel if he got picked, and what it would do to the team morale.

I am guessing that Corey Pavin was really hoping for Tiger to perform well this weekend so that he would qualify for the US Ryder Cup team out of his own power, but those dreams were shattered pretty early on.

In my opinion Pavin should leave Tiger outside the team. I can’t see how it would possibly be a good idea to have him on the team the way he is playing right now. And I think it would probably be best for Tiger’s career to be left off the team as well as it would be a huge risk for him to play as the captain’s pick should he fail to perform.

So who should Pavin pick instead of Tiger Woods? I have compiled a top three list of players that would be better suited for the 2010 US Ryder Cup team than Tiger to make things a bit easier for the captain.

1. Stewart Cink

2. Bubba Watson

3. Ben Crane

Not only would these three players probably perform better in the singles matches as it stands now. I am 100% convinced that they are way better than Tiger when it comes to teaming up with a partner in the best-ball and foursome matches.

Tiger can kiss the Ride Her cup goodbye

One of the few fans Tiger has left? You media people are so out of touch. Those of us who know how to forgive are hoping for his return to greatness. I cannot toss the first stone and neither should you. Tiger still has millions of fans out here–way more than you do, buster. For the record, Tiger is not playing well right now and should not be a Ryder Cup pick until his play improves.

    LOL @ The Admiral

Millions of fans? You seriously think that? The fans that didn’t abandon ship after the cheating scandal are likely to leave after the huge WGC fail this weekend.

I agree with the author. Getting the Captain’s pick is the worst thing that could happen to Tiger right now. That would be the last nail in his coffin.

Of course Tiger should be picked. He is still the No. 1 player in the world. Just because he has been in a slump is not reason not to pick him.
