On Sunday, Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys led 27-3 in the third quarter and still found a way to lose to the still undefeated Detroit Lions, 30-27. The Dallas collapse tied the largest lead a home team has ever blown in a loss in the history of the NFL. Romo started the Lions rally by throwing two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.

Apparently no lead is too large and no deficit is too much for the wildly inconsistent Romo, who lucked into fourth-quarter comeback wins in Weeks 2 and 3, but also threw a crucial interception as the Cowboys blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead in a road loss to the Jets in their opener.

After this choke job, Romo was crushed and apologetic. “It hurts,” Romo said. “It doesn’t feel good right now. The games obviously turn on turnovers. It is the most important stat in a game. That is why you protect the ball. It’s my No. 1 job, and I didn’t do a well enough job of that. I’m not taking anything away from them. They made a play when they had to. I shouldn’t have allowed them to have that chance.”

The first of Romo’s interceptions was returned 34 yards for a touchdown by Bobby Carpenter, a former Cowboy who was also the best man at Romo’s wedding (to someone other than Jessica Simpson). Cowboys coach Jason Garrett put most of the blame for the loss on his quarterback’s shoulders. “You can’t do the things that allow you to lose a game like this,” said Garrett, himself a former Cowboys backup quarterback. “Again, I’m talking about the turnovers more than anything else.”

The boyz will never do anything with Romo. Also with a huge lead like they Boyz had, The coach should of kept the ball on the ground and milk the clock!
