The San Francisco Giants agreed to a one-year, $4,437,500 deal over the weekend with Brian Wilson, avoiding a pesky arbitration hearing by settling on a figure in the middle of each proposal.  The 27-year-old righty has recorded 79 saves during his four years as the team’s full-time closer, compiling a career 3.73 ERA and 11-13 record with 86 saves.

All B-Weez has to do now is get rid of that stupid thing on his chin and lose the faux-hawk.

In other Giants news, the team could be staring down an arbitration hearing with Tim Lincecum. The two-time reigning NL Cy Young Award winner is looking to cash in on a record $13 million while San Francisco has offered a slap-in-the-face $8 million.

Farther north, the Seattle Mariners have agreed to give Ryan Garko $550,000 for next season. If the 29-year-old first baseman/designated hitter reaches 600 plate appearances, his salary could almost double to $1,075,000. Unfortunately for Garko, his career high in plate appearances is 563 with the Cleveland Indians back in 2008, when he hit .273 with 14 home runs and a career-best 90 RBIs. Time to step it up, buddy!

The Texas Rangers avoided arbitration with Scott Feldman over the weekend, agreeing to a one-year contract worth almost $2.5 million.  A 17-game winner last season, the righty kicked things off in the bullpen before being moved into the starting rotation at the end of April. One impressive stat: just four pitchers in the big leagues had more total victories and no one had as many road wins to match Feldman’s total of 12.

Finally, the Los Angeles Angels steered clear of next month’s salary arbitration hearing with Joe Saunders after giving him a $3.7 million, one-year contract on Friday.

The 28-year-old left-hander went 16-7 with a 4.60 ERA last year, giving him a 33-14  record over the past two seasons. The Halos still have some work to do though, as shortstop Erick Aybar and catcher Jeff Mathis are still without deals.
