Despite controversy with quarterback Taylor Martinez and head coach Bo Pelini; the star has elected to remain at the University for next season. Martinez and the Cornhuskers are coming off a loss in their bowl game.
Martinez is looking to get back to full strength health wise, after injuring his ankle. The quarterback became just the first freshman quarterback to start in the season opener. On the season, Martinez started in 12 of the Cornhuskers 14 games.
He finished his freshman season with over 1,600 passing yards and nearly 1,000 rushing yards. The quarterback combined for 22 touchdowns; whether via the air or the ground.
Nebraska won the Big 12 North title, due to their head to head win over the Missouri Tigers. The Cornhuskers will enter the Big Ten conference next year, and appear to be favorites, along with Ohio State and Wisconsin.
