Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams has always been kind of a killjoy in my book, but he’s really aging himself these days.
His reaction to the sweet, sweet emergence of manager Ozzie Guillen’s Twitter account was without comment, accompanied by a stiff shake of the head.
Putting even more stress on their already brotherly-like relationship (where they love one another while constantly arguing over stupid crap) is the fact that the team’s interactions will be followed by camera crews this season for an MLB Network reality show. Furthermore, there are rumors that Guillen and his boys are wanted for their own reality show… which would be super badass. You know you’d watch it.
Guillen’s reaction to this Twitter thing was classic Ozzie:

“Listen, I’m a grown man,” he said. “A lot of people think I do stuff without thinking or talking to people. Any information out there, I’m not stupid enough where I will say, ‘We’re going to make a move today.’ All of a sudden it’s in a tweeter from Ozzie. That’s not the idea. I’m not going to give fans the message before I give it to the media, it’s never going to happen. The twitter is like what I am doing today, have fun with it. It’s all personal.”
It’s not like he’s going off about the team and leaking sensitive, inside information. Take my favorite one so far:
The Chicago Sun-Times asked a few random players what they thought about their manager joining the social media network. Some, like reliever Matt Thornton and pitcher Freddy Garcia thought it was pretty great. Bobby Jenks on the other hand, didn’t even know what Twitter was.
Tweet on Ozzie!
