Roy Oswalt, a 32 year old right handed pitcher from Mississippi will see a change of scenery starting on Friday. Oswalt with a career record of 143-82 will be heading to the Philadelphia Phillies, and find himself in the middle of a pennant race in the National League East. Oswalt was traded to the Phillies for young left handed pitcher J.A. Happ and two minor league prospects.

Oswalt is having his worst season in 2010 for an Astros team that has been absolutely horrible. His record this season is 6-12, and his earned run average is 3.42. His last start as an Astros pitcher was against Cincinnati, where he pitched just five innings and allowed 9 hits and 6 runs, where the Reds blasted Houston 7-0.

Oswalt is now added with former Cy Young winner Roy Halladay, along with Cole Hamels and Joe Blanton. The defending MLB National League Champions have been marred by injuries on the offensive side, but expect former MVP Chase Utley back by the end of August.

Coming into Friday’s game, the Philadelphia Phillies have won eight straight games, and moved to within 2.5 games of the first place Atlanta Braves. Oswalt will get thrown straight into the mix, as he will make his first start Friday night against the Washington Nationals. Happ is expected to make the start for Houston as well.

Houston also added first base prospect Brett Wallace from Toronto. Many have felt the Astros will trade Lance Berkman in the final days before the trade deadline, but nothing has been done as of yet.
