CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS VS. VANCOUVER CANUCKS:
Pretty simple concept here: we’re going to go with the red hot Blackhawks against a somewhat enigmatic Vancouver team. The good news for the Canucks is that Roberto Luongo is back in net and they’re off back-to-back wins over Colorado. The problem for the Canucks is that they’ve made Luongo work too hard all season. They’ve done somewhat better of late in cutting down on the shots he faces, but they may be lulled into a bit of a false sense of security here after two games against an offensively weak Avalanche team. They’re facing a complete 180 here in terms of tempo, with the swift skating and pressuring Blackhawks coming to town. Chicago seldom puts fewer than 30 shots per game on net, and if the Canucks defense isn’t doing their job it could be back to their old bad habits with Luongo having to stand on his head to keep them in the game. Hawks have won six straight and 7 of 9, with Cristobal Huet looking sharp between the pipes. Basically, we’re getting the better team in good form at an underdog price and that’s a long term profitable strategy in sports betting.
