NFL Recap Week 12: Young Leads Titans to Fifth Straight Win

Best Games of Week 12:

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens: 20-17 Ravens

The Steelers came into this AFC North matchup pretty banged up as they would be without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Troy Polamalu. Without Big Ben behind center the Steelers are already at a huge disadvantage, but even backup quarterback Charlie Batch was a no go due a season ending injury so Pittsburgh had to hand the football over to third quarterback Dennis Dixon who hadn’t played significant time since he was an Oregon Duck.

With that being said the Ravens were licking their chops as they have been in desperate need of a win to stay in the thick of the AFC Wildcard race.

Well, the Steelers put up a fight in this one and Dennis Dixon did play well with 145 passing yards, 27 rushing yards, one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Joe Flacco and company as the Ravens were able to beat Pittsburgh in overtime.

Arizona Cardinals @ Tennessee Titans: 20-17 Titans

No team in the NFL has been hotter over the last four weeks or so then Vince Young’s Tennessee Titans!

Everyone has been waiting for Vince Young to fail after reclaiming his starting job, but his doubters will have to wait another week as Vince Young and company were able to beat one of the best teams in the NFC in the Arizona Cardinals.

Even though Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner was watching from the sidelines in this one, backup quarterback Matt Leinart was good enough to keep Arizona in contention and almost led them to victory, but Young was able to lead his Titans on a game winning drive down the field with a game winning touchdown pass to

Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles: 27-24 Eagles

The NFC East is always a competitive, but this season the Washington Redskins have been arguably one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Redskins showed up this past weekend to give this 2nd place Philly team a run for their money and if it weren’t for touchdown pass and two point conversion by quarterback Donovan McNabb the Eagles would have fallen to one of their division rivals. McNabb’s touchdown and two point conversation was huge, but it was David Akers field goal with 1:48 remaining in the fourth quarter that put them over the top!

Tampa Bay Bucs @ Atlanta Falcons: 20-17 Falcons

The Tampa Bay Bucs have been just pitiful this season, but they have shown signs of promise of the last couple of games with quarterback Josh Freeman behind center.

Unfortunately, the improved play of the Bucs and switch at quarterback hasn’t resulted in wins and Tampa Bay continues to fall into a downward spiral. The Atlanta Falcons on the other hand have played well at times this season, but have struggled with some injury problems as of late, especially in this game where they lost quarterback Matt Ryan to turf toe after only three passes.

Along with Ryan being out the majority of the game the Falcons were also without running back Michael Turner who has been nursing a sprained ankle for the last couple of weeks.

Despite no Ryan or Turner, the Falcons were still able to keep up with the Bucs and get the win when it was all said and done to stay alive in the NFC Wildcard race.
