The game of the week is without doubt the Minnesota Vikings heading into Lambeau Field to face against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in Brett Favre’s return to his old home for the first time in another uniform, but it is not the game you want to put your money on this weekend.
Along with Favre’s return to Lambeau there is the NFC South showdown between the undefeated New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons and NFC East battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and their hated rivals in the New York Giants, but once again these are games that could easily go either way and not worth taking a chance on.
NFL Locks of the Week
Dallas Cowboys -10.5 over the Seattle Seahawks
The Cowboys are coming off a big win over the Atlanta Falcons in week seven where Tony Romo was able to get back on track and throw for over 300+ yards and three touchdowns. Miles Austin has emerged as the prime time receiver in Dallas as he has made every Cowboys fan forget the name Terrell Owens. In just two weeks Austin has over 400 yards and four touchdowns resulting in two Dallas victories.
This week against the lowly Seahawks should be more of the same as the Cowboys should light up the scoreboard once again. Expect Romo and company to put up a big number on Seattle this week and cover the spread.
Houston Texans -3 over the Buffalo Bills
The Bills have just been awful this season, especially on defense and they will be going up the high powered offense of the Houston Texans led by quarterback Matt Schaub and wide receiver Andre Johnson. The only real question mark in this game is whether or not Johnson will play this weekend with his lung contusion. If Johnson does get on the field I see a major blowout in the making, if not it will be closer game but I still believe the Texans will cover the three point spread.
The Buffalo Bills will also be without their starting quarterback Trent Edwards who is still suffering from a concussion he suffered a few weeks ago.
Arizona Cardinals -11 over the Carolina Panthers
The Cardinals began to really hit their stride last week in their impressive win over the New York Giants and I expect the same in week eight when they take on the lowly Carolina Panthers who have been struggling all season long.
Another big reason for the Cardinals covering the spread will be the Panthers still putting their faith in quarterback Jake Delhomme who has done nothing, but throw interceptions throughout the season. Cardinals defense should have a field day and Kurt Warner will most likely light up the scoreboard and throw multiple touchdowns.
