NFL Locks of the Week
Green Bay Packers -3.5 over the Chicago Bears
Over the past four weeks or so the Green Bay Packers have been one of the hottest teams in the league as they have gone from being crushed by Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings twice to the leading candidate for a NFC Wildcard spot.
This week Aaron Rodgers and company will go up against one of their biggest rivals in the Chicago Bears. The Bears came into the season with high hopes after adding Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler into the mix, but so far Cutler has struggled to adjust to his new team and as a result the Bears have only won four games this season coming into week 14.
The Packers on the other hand have won four straight games coming into this matchup and will almost certainly light up the Bears defense as the Green Bay offense is firing on all cylinders. I believe the cheese heads should win this game by at least a touchdown.
Oakland Raiders +1 over the Washington Redskins
The Oakland Raiders have been one of the worst teams in the NFL ever since they lost the Super Bowl back in 2003 against the defensive savvy Tampa Bay Bucs and former head coach Jon Gruden. At the beginning of this decade the Raiders had one of the best offenses in the NFL led by future hall of fame quarterback Rich Gannon, but after the Bucs lost the Super Bowl everything changed as the Raiders headed into a downward spiral that would last the rest of the decade.
Recently the Raiders made a change at quarterback by finally deciding to bench former number one pick JaMarcus Russell in favor of backup Bruce Gradkowski. The switch at quarterback turned out to be just what the Raiders needed to get going again as they have won two of the last three games with Gradkowski starting behind center.
With that being said I believe this week the Raiders should be able to handle the lowly Washington Redskins and pull off the slight upset.
Arizona Cardinals -3 over the San Francisco 49ers
The Arizona Cardinals are coming off their biggest win of the season against Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. The Cardinals offense was impressive as always, but it was the Arizona defense that won the game by forcing the Vikings to turn the football over time and time again.
This week the Cardinals will look to keep their winning ways going against their division rival in the San Francisco 49ers. Despite the 49ers finally coming to life with quarterback Alex Smith behind center, this week the Cardinals should light up the scoreboard once again and easily cover the three point spread.
