The Houston Texans suffered a major blow to their offense last week against the Buffalo Bills when tight end Owen Daniels went down with a torn ACL in his right knee.
Texans quarterback Matt Schaub already has one of the best wide receivers in the NFL with Andre Johnson, but Daniels was quickly turning into one of his most reliable receivers this season and turning the Texans offense into one of the best in the NFL. Now Houston will turn to back up tight end James Casey to fill the void as Daniels will most likely be out for the season.
Here are the notable injuries going into week nine:
Indianpolis Colts: Bob Sanders
The Colts hard hitting safety Bob Sanders has struggled with injuries for quite sometime now and this season just when it looked like he was healthy again and ready to get back on the gridiron, he goes down yet again with a torn biceps muscle and will require season ending surgery.
Chicago Bears: Devin Hester
Jay Cutler and Devin Hester haven’t been the dominant quarterback and wide receiver combo in Chicago that the Bears had hoped for, but at times they have played pretty well together and shown signs of promise. Hester has struggled with an ankle injury as of late and is listed as questionable for this week’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. He may be questionable right now, but he will mostly likely be on the field on Sunday.
Detroit Lions: Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson
Without Stafford and Johnson in the lineup at the same time the Lions seem to have no hope at making any progress, but this week it looks like Stafford and Johnson will be back on the field and ready to go against the Seattle Seahawks.
Green Bay Packers: Jermichael Finley
The Green Bay Packers will have an easy game this weekend against the winless Tampa Bay Bucs, but they will be without tight end Jermichael Finley who is out with a knee injury.
New Orleans Saints: Lance Moore
The Saints offense is firing on all cylinders with Drew Brees getting everyone involved, but this week he will be without one of his favorite targets in wide receiver Lance Moore who is out with an ankle injury. This shouldn’t affect New Orleans all that much as they go up against the lowly Carolina Panthers in week nine.
Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden
Before this season started it was predicted that sophomore running back Darren McFadden would have a breakout year and after the first couple games it seemed as though it could be possible until he went down with knee injury. It looks like McFadden will be able to get back on the field this week though as he is listed as questionable and is expected to play against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Philadelphia Eagles: Brian Westbrook
Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook are huge pieces to the puzzle in the Eagles success on offense, but they always seem to struggle with nagging injuries every single year and this season is no different. McNabb suffered a rib injury earlier in the year and Westbrook just recently suffered a concussion that has kept him out some time, but he will be back in action this week in the NFC East battle against the Dallas Cowboys.
