This week’s matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles is huge! The Falcons are out of the race in the NFC South as the New Orleans Saints will almost certainly win the division without much struggle, but they are still in the mix of the NFC Wildcard race for the time being. The Eagles on the other hand are still in contention in the the NFC East if they can win this week and keep winning up until they face off against the Dallas Cowboys in the final regular season game in week 17.
With being said when these two teams go head to head this week in Atlanta it is basically a must win situation for both teams, but both the teams will have some big injuries problems as the Falcons will be without quarterback Matt Ryan and the Eagles will not have wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Here are some of the other notable injuries for week 13:
Arizona Cardinals: Kurt Warner (concussion)Warner wasn’t able to play in last week’s lost to the Tennessee Titans as he was still suffering from effects of the concussion, but he might be able to go in week 13 against the Minnesota Vikings as he is listed as questionable and has split the snaps in practice with Matt Leinart.
Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan (turf toe), Michael Turner (ankle), Roddy White (knee)
Much like the Washington Redskins, the Atlanta Falcons have been ravaged by injuries to their best players as of late. This week the Falcons will be without quarterback Matt Ryan and both Michael Turner and Roddy White are listed as questionable. Talk about a major blow to the team, that is practically the entire offense!
Cincinnati Bengals: Cedric Benson (hip)The Cincinnati Bengals have been suffered some drastic ups and downs over the past couple weeks without their star running back Cedric Benson, but this week it looks like Benson might get back on the gridiron as he is listed as probable. Even without Benson the Bengals had a nice ground attack last week with Larry Johnson, but with both Benson and LJ coming out of the backfield this weekend the Bengals will be hard to stop in the running game.
Cleveland Browns: Jamal Lewis (concussion)
As if things couldn’t get worse for the one win Cleveland Browns, they will now be without their starting running back for the rest of the season as Jamal Lewis without be watching from the sidelines with a concussion.
Philadelphia Eagles: DeSean Jackson (concussion)
At times this season the Philadelphia Eagles have had one of the best offenses in the NFL, but it can be mainly attributed to big plays with combination of quarterback Donovan McNabb and wide receiver DeSean Jackson. This week that downfield threat for the Eagles will be gone as Jackson will be sitting out with a concussion.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger (concussion), Troy Polamalu (knee)
The defending champs have really started to struggle as of late with three straight losses, but those losses, regardless of how close the games were, are mostly due to the fact that they have been without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Troy Polamalu. This week the Steelers will get Big Ben back, but they will still suffer on defense without Polamalu patrolling the secondary.
St. Louis Rams: Stephen Jackson (back)
The Rams have been one of the worst teams in the NFL yet again this season and just recently they suffered another huge blow with the loss of quarterback Marc Bulger for quite possibly the rest of the season. This week they will start backup quarterback Kyle Boller once again, but the main concern is the health of running back Stephen Jackson who has be suffering from back spasms and is listed as questionable.
Washington Redskins: Clinton Portis (concussion), Albert Haynesworth (ankle)
Poor Redskins. As if having a three win season so far hasn’t been bad enough, the majority of their offense has been banged up as Clinton Portis still tries to recover from a concussion and Ladell Betts going on the IR. Along with the offense suffering major blows, the defense has its fair share of struggles as well with Albert Haynesworth sprained ankle.
