The defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers have lost two straight after losing to the lowly Kansas City Chiefs in overtime last week. Not only are the Steelers losing ground in the AFC Wildcard race, but they have also lost quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for this week’s AFC North rivalry matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Big Ben is probably the biggest injury this week in terms of the effect it will have on the game for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but there are some other teams in week 12 that will be suffering this weekend with some big names on the sidelines.
Here are some of the notable injuries for week 12:
Arizona Cardinals: Kurt Warner (concussion)
Last week Warner left the game against his former team in the St. Louis Rams with a concussion, but apparently Warner was back to his old self this week and will play this weekend against the Tennessee Titans.
Atlanta Falcons: Michael Turner (ankle)
The Falcons really could have used Michael Turner last week in the loss against the New York Giants, but this week they might be able to get their star running back on the field as he is listed as questionable this week against the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Baltimore Ravens: Ray Lewis (foot), Ed Reed (illness, foot)
This week will be an important one for the Ravens as they go up against the Pittsburgh Steelers in an AFC North battle. The scales are already tipping in Baltimore’s favor as the Steelers will be without Big Ben and Polamalu, but the Ravens could be without their two best defensive players in Ed Reed and Ray Lewis who are both questionable for this game.
Cincinnati Bengals: Cedric Benson (hip)
Last week the Bengals struggled without Cedric Benson and lost to the lowly Oakland Raiders, but this week Cincinnati might be able to get their star running back on the field as he is listed as questionable against the Cleveland Browns.
Miami Dolphins: Ricky Williams (chest)
The Dolphins have suffered with injuries to quarterback Chad Pennington and running back Ronnie Brown this year as both players are out for the season. Last week Ricky Williams played brilliantly in as the starting running back, but got banged up at the end of the game with a chest injury. This week Williams is listed as probable and should make it on to the gridiron.
New Orleans Saints: Reggie Bush (knee)
Reggie Bush has been injury prone throughout his entire career in the NFL, but he has stayed relatively healthy this season as the Saints has gotten out to a 10-0 record. This week Bush’s status is questionable with a knee that might keep him out against the New England Patriots on Monday night.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger (concussion), Troy Polamalu (knee)
Troy Polamalu has been battling a with a nagging injury that will keep him out another game this week, but it is the injury to Big Ben that will really hurt the Steelers this week against the Ravens.
Seattle Seahawks: Julius Jones (bruised lung)
The Seahawks will be going up against the lowly Rams this weekend, but they may without running back Julius Jones once again as he is still trying to recover from a bruised lung and is listed as questionable.
St. Louis Rams: Marc Bulger (broken leg), Stephen Jackson (back spasms)
As if it weren’t bad enough that the Rams are a pitiful 1-9 coming into week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks, but they will be without quarterback Marc Bulger for the next three to six weeks with a broken leg and running back Stephen Jackson has been suffering from back spasms this week and is listed as questionable.
Washington Redskins: DeAngelo Hall (knee), Albert Haynesworth (ankle), Clinton Portis (concussion), Ladell Betts (IR)
No team will be suffering more with injuries in week 12 than the Redskins who will be with both star running backs in Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts. If that wasn’t bad enough Washington will also be hurting on defense with a hurt Albert Haynesworth who is questionable and DeAngelo Hall who will be sitting out against the Philadelphia Eagles.
