The biggest and most anticipated NFL matchup of week 10 is without a doubt Peyton Manning’s undefeated Indianapolis Colts taking Tom Brady’s New England Patrtiots. The question is who will be in uniform and ready to go for these two teams this weekend.
The Colts will be without hard hitting safety Bob Sanders and former Patriots kicker Adam Vinateri, but both of these players haven’t played much this season and this was to be expected. New England on the other hand have a few players at questionable and probable status like running back Sammy Morris (questionable) and Randy Moss (probable), but both Moss and Morris will be ready to go for the Sunday showdown between these AFC heavyweights. Here are the notable injuries for week 10:
Buffalo Bills: Terrell Owens
TO has a strained hip, but that won’t stop him from taking the field this week against the Tennessee Titans. Despite having the worst season of his career, TO has kept his mouth shut this season and still fights to get back on the gridiron even with the injury. Owens has two TDs this season, one receiving and one rushing.
Carolina Panthers: Mushin Muhammed, Julius Peppers, Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams
Apparently the Panthers are licking their wounds after almost upsetting the New Orleans Saints last week. This week they take on the Atlanta Falcons. Jonathan Stewart will start against the Falcons in week 10 despite the Achilles injury. Running back DeAngelo Williams (knee) and wide receiver Mushin Muhammed (hamstring) on the other hand are listed as questionable. Julius Peppers is probable with an injury to his hand.
Cincinnati Bengals: Cedric Benson, Chris Henry
Benson has been arguably one of the best running backs in the league this season as he continues to put up big numbers out of the Cincinnati backfield. This week he is listed as probable, but not due to injury. Not sure what is up with Benson, but I think he will play against the Pittsburgh Steelers regardless.
As for Chris Henry, who has played well this season, will be out for season with a broken arm that he sustained against the Baltimore Ravens last week.
Green Bay Packers: Jermichael Finley
For the second week in row the Green Bay Packers will be without tight end Jermichael Finley. They could use him this week against the Dallas Cowboys, but his knee is still not healthy enough to get him back on the field as he is listed as out for this weekend matchup against Tony Romo and company.
Minnesota Vikings: Brett Favre, Antoine Winfield
Brett Favre missing a game would definitely make headlines, but it won’t happen this week despite his hip/groin injury. Antonio Winfield on the other hand is listed as questionable for this week’s game against the Detroit Lions. Since the Vikings are playing the lowly Lions this week I think they will keep Winfield on the sidelines to prevent any further injury in a somewhat meaningless game that should be an easy win for Minnesota.
New York Jets: Leon Washington
Washington hasn’t exactly been a big part of the running game like Thomas Jones has for the Jets this season, but he did give Jones some time to rest on the sidelines. That will not be the case anymore this season as Leon Washington is now out for the season with a broken leg.
Philadelphia Eagles: Brian Westbrook
Westbrook as watched from the sidelines the last couple of weeks after suffering a concussion, but this week it looks like he will get back on the field against the San Diego Chargers as he is listed as probable.
Washington Redskins: Clinton Portis, Ladell Betts
The Redskins have had a very disappointing season this year and it isn’t getting any better in week 10 as they will go up against a very good Minnesota Vikings team without their two best running backs and offensive players. Ladell Betts has an ankle sprain and is listed as questionable right now, but Clinton Portis is will sit out this game with a concussion.
