NFL Fantasy Start ‘Em: Week 15

Start ‘Em

Quarterback

Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals and Kurt Warner may have really struggled against their arch rivals in the San Francisco 49ers last week, but this week Warner and coming will be looking to get right back on track by putting up a big number against the lowly Detroit Lions.

Larry Fitzgerald is still questionable for this game with a knee injury he suffered last week, but even if Fitzgerald is a no go, expect Warner to have a big game connecting with Anquan Boldin.

Other notable QBs: Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers; Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers; Matt Schaub, Houston Texans

Running Back

Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans

There are only two running backs in the league, in my opinion, that you can go wrong with starting every single week and expecting big numbers. The Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson is one of them and the other is arguably the new best running back in the NFL in the Tennessee Titans Chris Johnson.

Johnson has rushed for over a 100 yards in the last eight games with 1o touchdowns in those eight games. The Titans face the Miami Dolphins this week and starting Johnson is a no brainer!

Other notable RBs: Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings; Ricky Williams, Miami Dolphins; Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens

Wide Receiver

Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos

Last week Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall had a career day by breaking the receptions record set by Terrell Owens when he was with the San Francisco 49ers back in the day. With 21 receptions against the undefeated Indianapolis Colts in week 14, Marshall beat TO’s record by just one reception.

Not only did Marshall break the receptions record in a single game, but he also had 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns. This week the Broncos go up against the lowly Oakland Raiders and Marshall has the potential to have another huge day against the Oakland defense.

Other notable WRs: Andre Johnson, Houston Texans; Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals; Wes Welker, New England Patriots

Tight End

Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers

Over the past half decade or so Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez have been battling back on forth as the best tight ends in the game. Last season it seemed like Jason Witten had taken over the top spot and this season Dallas Clark looks to be amongst the elite, but arguably the San Francisco 49ers Vernon Davis has arguably become the best in the game at tight end ever since quarterback Alex Smith got back behind center.

Davis has scored a touchdown in four consecutive games and had 100 receiving yards in two of those four games. Expect that kind of production to continue this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Other notable TEs: Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers; Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons; Fred Davis, Washington Redskins

Kicker

Nate Kaeding, San Diego Chargers

Not many people who play fantasy football pay much attention to the kicker position, can’t say I blame them, but occasionally you get a kicker that can make the difference between winning and losing. Kaeding is that kicker as he continues to put up good fantasy numbers on a weekly basis.

Other notable Ks: Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots; Olindo Mare, Seattle Seahawks; Matt Prater, Denver Broncs

Defense

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have arguably one of the hottest teams in the NFL over the past five weeks or so and this week Aaron Rodgers and company will be going up against the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers who have struggled all season long.

The Steelers have no running game and a quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger that hasn’t played well since suffering a concussion earlier in the season. Packers should have a big day on the defensive side of the football against Pittsburgh this weekend.

Other notable Defenses: Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles
